This isn't so much a resume... or a list of awards or recognitions... but more of a description of the things I like
to do, or things I have done. It's sort of a view of my other ventures throughout my life. My wife tells
everybody that I'm a renaissance man... I guess that means that I'm able to do an assortment of tasks. I am
thankful for the gifts I have.
I like the creative process of nearly everything. Repairing something is OK, but I'd rather build something
brand new. I have a father that raised us (me and my brother) to be "hands on" type of people. He would
always have us following him around while he did stuff... so we'd learn. He thought he was teaching us to be
self sufficient. But, he created a couple handy men. And it taught us to be responsible. I kid you not, but I
was cleaning tables at a restaurant when I was ten years old... and did that nearly every summer growing up.
Although I don't claim to be a master of any my skills, I do have the ability to build and create. I worked in a
cabinet shop for a few years... so if it can be made of wood, I can build it. I also know how to weld a little bit
(see the photo of my pick-up truck below... I built the rack and bed covers)
I've also been singing since I could talk (nearly). If you don't
believe me... next time you see my dad, ask him to play the
recording of me singing "Wooly Bully" and "Make the World Go
Away" when I was four years old.
I was about fourteen and my dad was playing with a band, but
wanted to start his own. I told him that if he bought me a set, I
could play drums for him. He bought me a used Pearl set and two
weeks later, I was playing in dad's new band. Although it was not
easy to play and sing at the same time, after awhile I adjusted. As
the years went by, I got tired of being the sweaty drummer, so I
learned to play a few chords (keys and guitar) and moved to the
front

Our band performed together up until I moved out to California in 2000. We had many experiences (good,
and a couple bad ones), met a bunch of great people, and saw a lot of different places. We played in smokey
bars, nice nightclubs, a few auditoriums, outdoors, and even performed at a rodeo. It was a blast and
sometimes I still miss it.
In 1980, the FCC allowed radio stations to be responsible for training their on air people. The local station
announced to my high school that it was auditioning potential air talent. I gave it a try, and after some training, I
was a weekend, part time jock. It was cool, and I learned a lot.
I continued working part time at the local radio
station until it was purchased by The Stubbs
(group photo above on the left... Dianna and Don).
I then became a full time radio jock. I did a little bit
of everything... short of sales and sports
broadcasting. It was probably my most favorable
employment of any and all. The best part is being
on air... live and entertaining (waking up) your
listening audience, and receiving the calls. I made
a lot of radio (listener) friends there. In addition to
the band... broadcast radio... handyman... I also
DJ'd for private parties and gatherings.
On the photo (right) I'm interviewing retired NFL
referee, Red Cashion... as he demonstrated a
"first down" call.

Through my association with the radio stations and my family band (The Regals), I would be asked to participate
in other functions and festivities. Sometimes it required being a little silly (animated) and wearing interesting hats.
Below, is a photo of (a good friend and fellow borracho... emcee) me and Jeff (right hat). We were called upon
by the Spanish Fiesta Club to be the hosts of the parade and activities in the park. What the heck... I had the
sound equipment and Jeff had the silly hats... and we were both crazy enough to do it. We must not have been
too bad... they had us back the following year.

Jeff is also a photographer. In fact, when I was buying my first SLR, he gave me his advice. He was always
willing to share pointers and his knowledge. He is the master, and I am the grasshopper.
My uncle is also a photographer... so even just by association, I had to give it a try. What I like best about
photography, is working with people and capturing a character or personality. And I also enjoy editing and
being creative with effects. There are many who take on a hobby or recreation to escape the everyday grind. I
tell everybody that photography is my "game of golf"... my hobby. And I thoroughly enjoy it.
